If you've never played a tactical rpg and are wanting to jump into the genre, play this game.įinal thought, I mentioned I just played The Stick of Truth again before playing this for the first time. Sorry for gushing, I fell in love with this game and I'm upset I didn't play it before now, if you enjoy South Park, play this game, if you played the original and didn't care much for the changes in this game, play this game. The super hero theme over medieval fantasy was fresh and fun, despite it blurring the line between playing pretend and actually having super powers. The game feel was confusing, coming right off the heels of its predecessor, menuing is completely different, the sprint is toggled on by default (welcome change, but confusing) and the change to a tactical combat from a traditional RPG combat system was clunky for me, as I've never played a tactical rpg, but after playing with it for an hour or so I found it so much more engaging, especially since the playtime of the game is almost double it's predecessor.
(My complaints are spoiler based so I don't wanna break the sub's rules by discussing them in the post.) I have problems with this game, but with a 17 hour play time which kept me engaged for the entirety and had me thinking about the game while doing other things, those complaints are more like nitpicks. I just finished it, myself, after finally beating The Stick of Truth (I played that on release and never beat the final boss). It's a perfect introduction to Tactucal RPGs, I've never played any before but now I'm excited to play more. It's a perfect licensed game, feeling like a special from the show.
